Is This Too Much?

I'm thinking about doing this with my 10 gal tank..but not sure if it would be too much..ideally i'd like to get a 20 gal. but i'm not getting one unless i find it used, and i can't find one right now.

I have 6 harlequin rasbora, and 1 male cherry barb. i got two apple snails from someone and i guess i was thinking of mystery snails as far as the size they got, but oh well. 1 snail will stay in my 30 gal. once its big enough that the yoyo loaches won't eat it

so in my ten i'd like to have:

1 apple snail
1 dwarf gourami
2 bumblebee goby/1 or 2 peacock goby (suggestions?)
6 harlequin rasbora
2-3 cherry barbs (i'd like to get some lady friends for my male)

I have an Aqua-tech 10-20 gallon filter i think it is rated at 120 gph...it seems like it provides good filtration, but i really doubt it has that much haha
i've been told different things about the cherry barbs and rasbora. some people have said get 6 of each, others said they wouldn't have enough swimming space in the tank, so i thought i'd just get 2 more females cause my male seems a little lonely.
and i already know how dwarf gourami are not always in the best quality

I had 4 harlequin and 2 cherry barbs in my first tank. i really liked them

might get some more :unsure:

yea, i've really fallen for these rasbora. awesome schoolers, active but not like ADD active like danios. and mine seem two of mine do the shake thing and go upside down on the leaves..i don't know if i have all females..or if they just aren't pretty enough but no takers yet..i think they are pretty though hehe. their bronze/pinkish bodies with that bold black triangle is really awesome.

and my cherry barb is especially red, so i like him too he's so handsome.

am i right in thinking gobbies are salt water or brackish where as the others are not??

from what i gathered. peacocks are freshwater. bbgs, are debatable. the species the lfs last had in was the xanthosanus or somethinglike that..and it is the one that is suggested to be best in freshwater. whether they truly are that species or not i didn't know enough at the time to tell..but they are pretty good lfs and for example have like 10 or so tanks of angels all seperated by species, and many cichlids seperated by species. also there seems to be more and more people on this forum keeping them in freshwater

look at your neighborhood craigslist...
and i think the smallest tank you should get is a 29 gallon...

But i dont know how old you are... or what your living situation is like...

i'm 20, don't know why that matters really, haha. but w/e

the main thing is that this tank will be with me at school. right now i have the 10 and it's fine, next semester i'll be living in a more 2 room apartment style "dorm" with 2 other guys..i don't want to get something big..but i thought a 20 gallon or even 15 would be great for my fish, and it wouldn't be too big to transport back and forth, and also wouldn't take up a lot of room, but would be more ideal for the fish.

i'm on craigslist alll the time, hoping to find a steal, cause i'm not going to spend a lot on another set up. but there just aren't that many going up on there in my area.

I myself have 0 experience with the gobies but I think you tank should be fine. I am a huge fan of Cherry barbs. I have one male and two females in my 29 gallon. They are great. Also the Harleys are awesome little fish. I have a school of 10 in my 36 gallon tank. Very active fish that are always in the middle of my tank. Good luck with the tank and keep looking for that 20 gallon

i just checked craigslist and looks like some people were doing some spring cleaning over the weekend
i might not be able to get either since i won't be home for a week and they might sell...but which would you think is better

^actually a 15 gallon, the guy is selling it cause his daughter went to school so i don't think he knows much about it, he said it comes with a bunch of filters that may or may not work anymore. might be too long for limited space..my friends already make fun of me for having fish, if i bring in some really long tank i might never hear the end of it. but is longer better than taller?

24x17x12, so 20 gal. comes with more..and might not take up so much room. is a longer tank generally better than a taller tank?
