Im a week into my fishless cycle just about happy with the rocks though to me it still looks bare so must try to get some plants or something?

Anyway im now researching the fish I want to get so far Ive come up with:

yellow labs
Pseudotropheus Zebra Red
Cobalt Blue Zebra
Rusty Cichlid Iodotropheus sprengerae

What are Malawi Blue Dolphin like? ive heard they can get quite big so would that be a no no?

And finally some Synodontis multipunctatus

Is this going to work okay? also can someone tell me the roundabout numbers im looking at in total? Its a juwel rio 300.

Thank you :)

If you want to keep Mbuna Malawis, keep away from Dolphins. They are rather timid and will almost certainly be killed by the more boisterous types. the number depend on which Malawis you want to keep (many will get to around 5" to 6" long), but you should be able to get twenty to twenty five in a 300 litre tank. Synodontis work well with Malawis, but be mindful that they can be very territorial with their own kind. So many things to research / consider... Good luck and keep us posted. :good:

I'd say 22 fish at the most and includes the cats.

Multies are shoaling fish and it'd be good to get at least 3.

*Note of caution. Red Zebra's and Yellow Labs have been known to hybridize. If you go forward with those 2 species, I would be careful not to sell their young as it really mixes up the gene pool.
