Is This A Male Or Female Apisto

I would of thought female but...

Mines exactly the same (in sig) I would also like know wether it's male or female. I would of presumed female. But some people seem to think it could be a young male.

I was going to say female too until the last picture when the color in the fins came out... starts looking like the fish that James has and some folks do say could be a young male. Interesting though because even when my male was young it looked male and not like a female with color in the fins. I'm wondering. It is making me think of something a fisheries biologist told me that water pollutants often mimic estrogens and sort of turn males into females. He was speaking of wild salmonids but just a thought. Will be interesting to track both these fish over time.

I would say young male, females have a yellow colour to the body and at 2" its getting a bit big to be female.
James yours is 100% a female see how it has the yellow colour to it thats the easiest way to tell plus it doesnt have the extended dorsal fin.

If there 1" long and the same age theres a good chance they could be females as there normally about half the size of the male.

Subdominant male, by the looks of it. Is there another male in the tank??

And 2" is not too big for a female. Perfectly fine.
