Is this a fin nipping injury?

One of my red coral dwarf Platy has a torn tail fin this morning. I have never seen tail nipping in any of my tanks before. But I presume that is what this is. Any other ideas?

It looks to me like someone took a chomp. Clean water and the usual maintenance should let it heal.

It looks like a male who got a little beaten up, so that would be worth monitoring.

If the tank mates are peaceful...

I would think he got stuck somewhere. looks ragged and the head scrapped and red spots on the body.

I rather think that it's torn and not by biting...
