I have a yellow tiger endler male ignoring the three tiger endler females. Instead he is constantly trying to mate with a dwarf red coral platy. It is the first time I have seen this behavior. The platy wants nothing to do with him.

I'm new to learning about fish, but from all the posts about having more females than males I'm discovering most male fish are horny little buggers.

I've had guppies fall for corys, and in one case, become obsessed with bedding a rock.

I once dreamed I had a partridge in a pear tree.....

Well, there are many males of several types of livebearer species that just don't care if they're chasing a female of their own kind or another. They see almost every other type of fish as a potential mating partner. But as long as the female platy doesn't show any interest in the him, he won't get the chance to try to mate. But there's also this little fact: Their sexual organs are not compatible which makes an actual mating not possible anyways.
