One of my hillstreams has been in bad shape for the last month or so. Originally, it was just torn fins from scuffles with the others, then the head injury, then the body. I have set up a 10L tank with a fungicide medication after I saw some fuzz on the body. So far, I'm on day 2 of 4. The difference today was that there was a strange white, almost algae-looking growth on the torn fin (see pic 3). Is this a good sign, or has the fungus gotten worse? I'm quite sure this fish is too far gone now, as I've tried lots of medication and nothing has improved.

I'm not sure if it's what your fish has, but there were threads on the old loach (LOL) forum about "patchy disease". That was long before I kept any hillstreams & I didn't pay attention to any treatment that might be available to you in UK. It does look bad, I'm sorry I can't help more😢

Even though the fish is close to going, I find it interesting how this fungus is growing out of its wounds like a piece of hair alage compared to the normal fuzz we normally see on infected fish.
