Is There Anything I Can Find On The Beach That Would Be Ok In My Fresh

the title is pretty self explanatory in itself.

im going to a beach in wales because my brother needs to go to this certain town for another reason, he thinks im coming for the ride but in the 1 hour wait i will be down on the beach looking shifty i say shifty because i think its against uk laws to gather things off the beach? yet they let you burn driftwood on a barbecue? i promise not to steal a crabs hideout

anyway,i know there will be salt in these things i find but if soaked long enough, could i draw the salt out of drift wood?

hi I got a piece of wood from the beach and putted in my tank I let it dry very well and then boil it for a while until now no fish has die

how long has the wood been in your tank? i have plecos and they basically eat wood, at a slow rate but they do digest it.so if there eating wood, they will eat the salt too. i need to be extra careful.

you are right. its illegal to take stuff off most beaches, in the UK. but, being practical, a few bits of drift wood, even stones (when you consider how few people actually keep fish) will not be missed, or cause trouble.
Personally, I'm uncomfortable with stuff from the sea, in a fresh tank. but know a few here who have done it. and, it seems, with little problems. but i would feel too "uncomfortable" if there was a pleco involved.

if the wood can be, truly, cleaned. I feel, is open to argument.

i would rather get wood from a ressy in summer when the water get low
