What do the eggs look like exactly? I have a pot in the middle of the, the fire mouth spends almost all day in it, coming out every now and then but staying right near it. My one pink convict whos friendly with the firemouth had made really big pits out of the rocks around the barrel area, in some places removing all the rocks all the way to the glass. Inside these pits it's like a filmy milky white substance.. wtf is it o.o

Let me add that this con and the firemouth are really guarding these things.. They're forcing the other 3 cons to stay in the top corners of the tank, if they move at all they're chased back up there.

Btw, it's not all really milky white stuff. Theres tiny brown things inside of all of it.. which I'm guessing is eggs..
I'm just hyper right now and forgetting things and adding it all in bit by bit into this post.

They could very well be eggs..

What size tank do you have? breeding pairs of cichlid get extremely aggressive, and wont tolerate tankmates unless the tank is large.

Yeah the tank is a problem right now.. They're in my 30gal while I was waiting to get my new large tank next week. I just got 1 of the convicts 2 days ago, the other 3 convicts and firemouth yesterday. I knew they say with convicts just add fish + water and you're done.. but still less than 24 hours after adding them.. I could take th eother 3 convicts out for now if I really need to and put them in my 55g but it's stocked with a very agressive texas cichlid and jag cichlid so I don't wannna risk it if I don't need to.

Well.. it seems you've got 2 overstocked tanks.. If I were you.. I'd keep the 2 fish that are spawning in the 30g tank.. and I would keep only the texas in the 55g.. Jags are mean, and will outgrow a 55g tank....... :X :/ :/ :X

texas in the 55, and just the pair in the 30, you could even move the other 3 cons with the texas, cons can kill oscars given a chance, so i think theyl be ok depending on the temprement of your fish,
sounds like eggs to me, my cichlid comunity is in chaos with my breeeding pair, luckily they are all hardy and dont even get damaged by the pair, they just keep out of reach and there all fine.
