Is It Cruel To Separate Guppies?

yes it is possible but it really depends on what colour genes the female has as well. what colours does she have?
just realized shes black
the likey hood that the yellow one got her first is strong, but it depends how long youve had them, then where they came from, what were they in the LFSs tank with, so many things to think about

Yep, she looks black, but when she's swimming under the light, she has a bluish streak in her tail. No yellow,as far as I can tell

Had them all about 5 months. Could be possible for her to have been impregnated in the lfs? what is the gestation period of a guppy?

you will find that your gups will grow up to be different colours of yellow/black and some might even have that touch of blue in their fins as well
gestation 4 weeks, how mant times has she dropped fry whilst with you?if so when?

Guppies and mollies seem to be able to divide up a batch of embryos into two or three groups at most. In other words, the idea that once pregnant a molly or guppy will use sperm from that mating forever is nonsense; usually, after the second batch, she'll be "clean" and ready for a new male.

Cheers, Neale

Not forever, but certainly more than two batches, and considerably more than 2 months IME.

Just the once, as far as I can tell, unless she's already had one batch without me noticing, and they were all eaten? But thats unlikely, as I have lots of things for them to hide in!
