is it just me that totally doesn't get the whole designer clothes thing?

No. I see absolutely no sense in spending ridiculous amounts of cash on something that doesn't even look all that remarkable or different from what you can find elsewhere for a lot less money. They don't last any longer because they have a "designer" label on them.

Clothing becomes art when it is modified or made from scratch by it's owner .
