Interpet Filteraid And Brown Water (Does It Go Off)

I have just used Interpet filteraid in my tank. The water has now gone brownish and cloudy. Is this normal? I've had the filteraid for a while and not sure whether on not it has gone off. Does it go off? I dont remember it being like this the last time I used it (about 8 months ago)
 
Should I leave the tank to sort itself out or should I empty it now?

I'm not sure what that filter aid is but it obviously isn't work. Try and get an aqueon filter based on the size of your tank. Make sure to regularly clean your filter out and replace it every so often (but not all at one because then the good bacteria could die.)
