I agree with that, except for the shrimp part. Ghost shrimp, amano shrimp, (and if you're lucky enough to come across them) cherry shrimp stay between 1-2 inches, and are very peaceful. Very active...always looking for something to eat.
As for the clams...for one...you'll almost never see them, and they rarely move. They are filter feeders, so they'll be taking away nutrients out of your tank. Also, if they happen to reproduce, the "offspring" is parasitic to the fish. Reproduction in aquariums is rare though, but I don't know if you would want to take the chance.
