I'm Interested To See Everyones Betta Tanks!

No it's a different one hun. It's a Dennerle one that came with the tank. It's not bad but buzzes a bit since the last time I used it. 11W I think it is. Quite a nice cool light colour as opposed to a yellowy one :D

Assaye
- I love the setup you have with the bridge. Any problems with fins being ripped on it? I was looking at a similar style today but am afraid of it damaging my female betta's fins. They're really small though. . .I thought she may be okay.

Also are you getting your clay pots from regular gardening stores? How are you disinfecting them before putting them in your tanks?

Do you have heaters in your tanks?

Thanks.

No problems with the bridge or the pineapple hut. However, the boy in with the bridge hardly has any fins to speak of (was like that in the shop) and I've been nursing him back to health. Certainly not enough by the way of fins to get caught on the bridge. The one in with the pineapple is depressed (yep, bettas get depressed) and hardly moves anyway. So I'd say something like that could work if you have short finned or quiet bettas, but you'd need to keep and eye on them. If you have any worries, don't get it.

Clay pots - I raided my mother's gardening shed, lol. Yeah, they are just regular garden centre pots. You'd need to check they weren't treated with anything weird though before you get them. As for disinfecting - I just carefully wash them a few times in boiling water. I don't like to mess around with chemicals near my fish.

All my tanks are heated as I'm in the UK and even the summers here don't get that hot. Certainly not hot enough to go without heaters in tanks. Bettas really do need steady temperatures between 74 and 80 F.

Well, here is my Mom's tank:

And here's a pic of the three girls together. :) Here you go:

Taffy is on the left side, and Aqua and Queenie are on the right side (Queenie is the one with the dark body and red fins; Aqua is blue. :D )
And here's Mr. Wimpy Fish's tank. :) See there; it's only a 2.5 gallon, but he seems to like it (he was miserable in the lfs, and wants an even BIGGER tank, though XD):
2yxg7lt.jpg

And you can just barely see his head in there. :D Look in the right side of the tank, next to the big, clear, blue rock. ^^;
And here's the tank that Metamorphix lives in! :D There ARE quite a few other fish (such as, my platies and my tetra and my white cloud minnow -- oooops, that's ALL of them! XD), but Metamorphix wants to be the main attraction of that tank:

And you can see my fish food in front of the tank, and the plant that has grown FREAKISHLY HUGE (o_O;), and you can ALSO see one of the platies near the filter tube; not quite sure exactly where Metamorphix is, though.

:D I happen to rather LIKE my tanks! :#

Well here are mine now with plants, gotten rid of all the silk ones now I think..(please ignore the algae  )

12 gallon girls tank on the left, 5 gallon tank for Bronson on the right. (both from car boot sales, both under £10 and together take up only 3 feet of worktop space) Real plants in all tanks, I dislike fake ones immensely.

Bronson is LOVING that new 5g tank. He's built a bubblenest in the corner under the Riccia , and is now swimming and flaring at everything and generally showing off in the extreme.

Just-Another-One - With regards to live plants, have you tried Moss balls at all? They do not require much light at all, will help use up nitrates and will generally brighten your tanks up. They are quite literally the easiest aquarium plant in the world to take care of. Just chuck them in and leave them alone. All you may have to do is give them an occasional rinse under a gentle tap to brush off any debris that may collect on them. Apart from that they just sit about on thebottom looking good.

Combined with some good quality silk plants you could provide the fish with a much less bare environment. They really do prefer to have thickets of plants to lurk in .

I did have Marimo Moss balls before but they all died :( I think it was because I was putting Flourish Excel in the tank which is known to kill algae and well Marimo's are a type of algae so it didn't turn out well.

I also bought about $35.00 of silk plants but they look SO horrible in my tank and make my fish look horrible as well so I had to remove them :(

I'd get more moss balls I dont know where to get em from. I bought the others from craigslist last year and dont have the sellers contact info anymore.

heres my two tanks.. nothing fancy at all. I did have them planted out but the plants never did well and it became a mess.

I know I could get a few fakes plants but they look corny and really ugly. I may start to rotate the bettas in each compartment every couple weeks so they get a change in ornaments.

hahahahahh the only reason I was able to divide out the tanks a few weeks ago and buy two more bettas was I took down my 20 gallon community and gave all the fish away for free...otherwise im sure my Mom wouldn't of been too happy with "wasting money" and buying more fish...

Anyway tank on the left is a 6 gallon 'eclipse' and the one on the right is a 5 gallon 'all glass bow front'- the tanks are both acrylic and run with no filters even though they both came with one. I do a full tank clean and water change once a week.

Obviously how I keep my bettas is not reccomended here but its worked fine for me. My purple guy has been with me for 4 years now with this same routine and hes never been sick or diesesed.... I do add a 25 watt heater for the winter months since my house stays fairly cold.

Dividing the tanks was super easy and costs about $1.00 per divider if you DIY.

GOOD LUCK CONVINCING MOM- I know how hard it can be LOL

LOL. Thanks for your advice, and.... Yes, convincing Moms really CAN be a great pain! XDDDDD

Lols, she says that the three tanks in my bedroom are two much (1 10gal, 1 2.5gal, 1 5gal fry tank), and while I don't want to agree with her I just might have to LOL. XDDDDD

I am trying to get her to compromise by saying that *I* will buy her a big tank for downstairs, but she's just not falling for it! DX

Oh, well; we'll see.... Oh, yes; WE'LL SEE. >:D ^^; >:) >:3

You can buy packs of 5 on ebay for not too much money. Or just one big one as some sellers do have these. I got one from my LFS and it is impressive, about the size of a tennis ball.

Java moss should also survive as long as the tanks aren't in a dark corner which they don't seem to be. You could tie it to a small piece of wood, or just leave a clump floating about. Your bettas may make bubblenests in it and should enjoy lurking under it.

Here's mine just rescaped
