Well, stocking wise, I say you need to up your rummy nose's to at least 6. Maybe 8-10. Don't know why one would need 2 algae eaters in one tank, but the BN and flying fox should be fine. As for centre piece fish, why not some gouramis? You could get Dwarf Gouramis, Honey Gouramis, Paradise Fish, or maybe someone can recommend a small oddball fish that is compatible with your stocking

im pretty sure the op mentioned something about taking the fish he has back to the store... "Are there any beautiful "signature" or unique fish I could keep in the tank? I plan on handing the fish in and starting a new project."

Oh well in that case.....

If you want a unique, colorful tank, go for a rainbowfish biome.
You'll need soft, acidic water, lots of plants, and a sand bottom if you want (better to clean, looks better)

8x Praecox Rainbows
6x Celebes Rainbowfish
2x Peacock Gobies (1 male/1 female)
10x Cherry Shrimp

might be a tad overstocked, haven't had much expieriance with rainbowfish except for Peacock Gobies

Going to sound like a massive idiot, but not so keen on the praecox or Celebes love the Peacock gobies though, very pretty fish.

Is there a specific biome you're going for? Amazonian? Asian? Species only tank? Mixed?
Any specific fish you're attracted to?

ugh im blanking out...most of the more challenging things to keep that id reccomend need larger tanks....

If a shrimp tank is your cup of tea then go for it and drink it down!

OH! have you ever thought about possibly killifish? You could try breeding some annuals...thats always a cool idea.

Ps: Im prettttty sure rainbowfish require a higher ph..

I really like colourful fish. For example my German Blue Rams had everything I looked for... So something along those lines in all honesty man.
Any ideas despite my sketchiness? I think I may need a good read on the forums!

Very true, keeping that idea as a fall back though not a huge killi fan, maybe in the future for sure though!

Id go with 1 male and 2 female german blue rams, and find a type of smaller tetras that can handle the warmer water the rams require, and have fun with the challenge of keeping the german blue rams alive!

lol i exaggerated a bit. Their not that hard to keep, just a bit pickier than your usual bread n butter fish. A challenge nonetheless...
