God it's been a while!

Info about my tank:
-20 gallons
-Orca Tank
-Been running now for 3 years now! So extremely stable! No issues what so-ever!

What's in the tank?
- Flying Fox (been in there from day 1)
- 4 rummy nose tetras (been in there for 2 years +)
- BN Plec (2 years)

And that's it!

I have kept Cories, Neons tetras, Breeding Rams (Golden+Blue) and also a dwarf puffer fish!

I know what i'm doing without sounding "up myself!" loll but here is the thing!

I'm hopfully moving to London from up north. To finish my studies firstly, and hopefully to study Radiotherapy in London! My bro has a flat and that is where my tank will be!

Here is the thing......

I am sadly bored of my current tank, it's such a #41#### good stable tank! (fish wise) Once I move there I want a new project, but nothing extremely greulling!

Are there any beautiful "signature" or unique fish I could keep in the tank? I plan on handing the fish in and starting a new project.

As in, put 1 puffer fish in the tank? Like a GSP? Most of my knowledge has left me as I've been face down in A level books the past few years!
How about a parrot fish? I just want a tank with a beautiful fish, or a unique one (Like a puffer )

I've pretty much done my own thing over the last few years, so is there any new news out there for tropical fish?

There's some good threads kicking around on puffer tanks recently. Otherwise, there's a whole list of things you can keep as a species only fish in a 20g. Question is, where to start?

Personally, I'd plant it and fill it with apisto's and tetras, but that's just my preference.

GSP is a no no...they need slightly larger tanks and also only good candidates if your willing to go brackish and eventually full marine.

figure eight puffers might be an option but they NEED lowend brackish.

You could always do about 4-5 dwarf puffers in a 20 gallon.

There are some other puffers like the red tailed red eyed end of the puffer family but if i recall correctly Neale commented that they were a lot more active in larger heavily planted tanks...

Just do lots of research on what you intend to keep and make a thread about your tanks so everyone can help/give advice along the way!

I dont see any ignorance, but seriously nothing wrong with asking questions like those! GSP = Green spotted puffer. Common puffer in the aquarium trade, but many fall victim to unknowing or uneducated owners who keep them in fw which is a nono since they are a brackish water species and eventually need full marine when fully grown adults.

Well, stocking wise, I say you need to up your rummy nose's to at least 6. Maybe 8-10. Don't know why one would need 2 algae eaters in one tank, but the BN and flying fox should be fine. As for centre piece fish, why not some gouramis? You could get Dwarf Gouramis, Honey Gouramis, Paradise Fish, or maybe someone can recommend a small oddball fish that is compatible with your stocking

Hey guys!

Appreciate the input! I see a lot of puffer fish talk! Thing is I'm looking for a challenge, I've successfully kept puffers so was looking for a more challenging yet beautiful fish to keep! If It comes to it I could fully plant out my tank with shrimp and a lime green nano tetra shoal but I just wanted to see the new options as I've been away from this site for a while

The flying fox is a good friend, been through my tank for all the years! Eats everything! Him and my BN get along great and not had any issues at all

Oh well in that case.....

If you want a unique, colorful tank, go for a rainbowfish biome.
You'll need soft, acidic water, lots of plants, and a sand bottom if you want (better to clean, looks better)

I have a suggestion if you'd like

You could go for

8x Praecox Rainbows
6x Celebes Rainbowfish
2x Peacock Gobies (1 male/1 female)
10x Cherry Shrimp

might be a tad overstocked, haven't had much expieriance with rainbowfish except for Peacock Gobies
