Ideal Plec For A 90L?

What would be an ideal pleco for a 90L (Fluval 90), Lets keep the price at a maximum of £30?

You might think i'm heartless for asking this after my pleco just died,
but the girlfriend, she'll eventually want another and i'll need to be full of info for when she does lmao.

I'm unsure why the plec died, it was a small common pleco at about 2 and 1/2 inch (growing for larger tank).
Better fed then the pleco in my 55g too (Not that it's poorly fed), maybe i just got unlucky - it was only small after all.

Yeaah i like the clown plecs, can get some real stunners but the other half doesnt think too much of them.

What species of Ram?

Longfin German Blue Ram, just the one in the tank - i've tried others but never had any luck.

The pleco (if it didnt die ) was going to go into a 55g, still not large enough i know but i find them pretty slow growers.

BN's are probably the only plecs suited to a 90l tank. well for whole life that is.

I know they're not technically a 'pleco' but I'd go Bristlenose all the way! Stays smallish, great for algae, so ugly they're cute

There are loads of different plecs ranging in sizes from about 2" to over a foot or so. Personally I would say go for the zebra plec, but they cost around £300 so no chance there seeming as that's 10 times the amount you want to spend. The idea of the BN plec is quite a good 1, they are a very social plec and get on with most tank mates. However, you either love their ugliness or hate it.

If you want to spend a bit more money and go to your limit then just keep going down to your lfs shop to see what they have in. I picked up a lovely L121 plec and he's now a stunning plec, although he doesn't come out that much and properly ruins my filter by the amount of sand he throws up he looks great. Hope that helps.

A Bristlenose is nice. They come in different colours (albino, reddish etc) and fin forms. MOst are quite hardy.

Some of the "fancy" Plecs are also nice. But they are a bit more fussy when it comes to their water requirements.

According to a few websites,
Panaque maccus (Clown Plec) size 8cm (3inch)?
Peckoltia vittata (Candy Striped Pleco) size 10cm (4inch)?
Bristlenose size 13cm (5inch)?

If that info is about right i'd be best going for the clown for a 90L, candy striped at a push? seen as these things are poop machines lol.

Haha, well I thought mine was disgusting when my boyfriend got her, but now I like her goofy little face - if you get a girl they have no bristles so they're not quite as 'offputting' i guess
