Ich - Best Med

I'm trying to remove the snails, must have taken 20 out last night. But i'm almost on the verge of cleaning the tank out completely with the fish in a bucket to get rid of the snails. I can see taking them out in bits and pieces is going to be a constant task!!!!!

lovely, good luck then, wow you have alot of snails, are they pets ones, or rogue ones that came in on plants.

Definately stowaways. Thought i'd leave them, not realising the amount i'd end up with. I'm personally not too bothered about keeping the pet snails, even if they look quite interesting.

I think ultimately my best method of removing them is going to be one of predation, I don't want to add any more chemicals to my tank than i have to. A clown loach would fit the bill and they look quite cool anyway. But with one in my tank, i don't think i would have enough space to replace the platys that i've lost. Plus it would probably want to occupy the same space that my female cichlids do at the bottom of the tank, under my bogwood. I think the loach would come off worse!

Clown loaches need very large tanks, plus they have to be kept in groups, it cruel to keep one on its own as it will be stressed.

I guess it's the old pick the snails out as i find them trick then!

Do you know of any other snail eaters that would be suitable for my tank?

Yes i think there are some smaller loaches, but it would ask in tropical chit chat, don't no much sorry.
