i would really like help

If you want a simple answer, word more precisely next time. People on the forum are just trying to be helpful and give advice based on what they were able to interpret; do not be unappreciative. Most offered information relevant to your situation, with other advise wrapped into it.

While the pleco will probably not harm or eat the fry, it is not a good idea since he will probably produce more waste than he is cleaning up. The wisest course of action would be to listen to the breeders and feed smaller portions several times a day to prevent the build-up of excess food.

thats the problem i dont have that sort of time. i have to juggle school. work.band . sports. lol and sorry if i sounded unnapricative but like when you pont something on this sight no one can every just give you a stright up answer. well i have decided to put the pleco in so were good now.

If you are that busy, maybe you should try rehoming some of your fish and having only a few tanks, so then you can devote all your spare time to just those few tanks and they won't get neglected.
And with the pleco, your fry will end up dead because of the waste the pleco will create. Even if its small, the ammonia will rise quickly, and fry are VERY VERY fragile to even the smallest rise in ammonia. Yes, the pleco will eat the left over food, but then he'll just poop that out and create even more waste, it just won't work.

...you'd be siphonin 2-3 time dayly too..not cause of the left over food..but the poop...

I breed guppies...i have like 100+ and i only siphon once every 3 weeks..and only 3 died in a year....

do whatever you wanna do, my pleco went from 1inch to 7 inch in 6 months..

that's like 1inch per month, but i supose your plec will be stunted in the 5G, even in a 30G

"do you think this would be ok???"

NO

That's the simple answer that everyone's been giving you.

If you weren't going to listen, why did you ask to begin with?

I agree fully to that; I hate it when people come on, ask for advice, throw it back in everyone else's face, then do whatever they want  Especially when multiple people have told them it was bad for the fish :grr: You personally involve people in your animals by asking advice, then go against the advice they cared enough to give; how very rude.

Bye bye, fry :byebye: Sorry you have an owner who won't make the time to care for you properly.

ok um i dont need those point less post i mean i was just trying to get and answer and the way ppl say things sometimes other people dont get it i know i do it to i apolagized but i dont need your point less post of also im my question i just wanted to save some time and yes i DO take care of my fish so dont tell me i dont oh an btw my fry are going great. and i think it is very rude to post a comment like that. saying they will die. i mean you are blowing this out of proportion people are always looking to save time im no newb with fish i just wanted to know if the plec would harm the fry thats all. and im sorry if uthink i wasnt listing but i got confused. if thats ok with you. i mean WOW.....im HUMAN!

opps srry i didnt answer you question kevin007 um well i didnt plan to put the plec in there for that long and i figured once the plec got too big i give it back to my lfs. b/c they raise them and give them to ppl with pond for free. also than you for bringing up the whole poop thing b/c i totally forgot about that lol. so i decided not to and ill prolly just go with the smaller portions 3 times a day does that sound good?? morning around 7:00am afternoon aroung 4:00pm and night around 9:00

I try to be as helpful as possible :D

how about you go get a 10G i mean, it's only for around $10 and the filter costs around $20+, where i live, the heater isnt neccesary, the room temperature is enough.

THEN, you can maybe get some ottos? and your fry can grow faster in a larger tank + you can raise the fry a bit longer, less frequent water changes, future home for fry, etc?

I gave you a straight up answer. Large plecs, 55 gallon, tiny platys, no problem. 8 inches large at the time. Newborn platys, in with adult platys. Plecs only eat platy fry if they are dead.

Corys work better. Eat just as much, make less mess.

I totally under the time problem you are experiencing. Work, family obligations, my house, mom's house, aunt's house, it never seems to end. There are ways to juggle all these things with a little thought. Get a couple corys, use a turkey baster to suck uneaten food off the bottom, keep the fry tank lower than the parents larger tank & fill from the parents tank after cleaning. You can let the parents tank run a little low & add water once a day instead of trying to fill the smaller tank 3 times daily.

How about adding an apple snail, if you only put in one it should clear up the excess food and just one shouldn't add too much with it's own waste.

try bristle nose plecs or loaches they will cleanup anything and look better than snails, which multiply by the thousand and eat ur plants (guess you can see i have apast neightmare with snails)!

Apple snails need a male and female to mate, eggs are laid above water and are easy to remove. It is not fair to keep any plec or loach in a 5.5 gallon tank as loaches are social and need friends and plecs get too big and crap loads.

The only time I have kept a loach in a 5.5 gallon was when I had an outbreak of tiny baby snails in Mr. Berry's tank and decided to put my Dojo loaches in there for 20 minutes to help clean up... Wow, those were some EXCITED loaches. They love the tiny snails. They probably can't wait to get bigger so they can get the juvies and not just the babies! ^^

I'd get a few ghost shrimp if you want a cleanup crew.

yeah thos sound good too mabey ill get them ina few weeks when petsmart is have there huge fish sale b/c there remolding
