If I remember your other thread correctly you also don't have any plants to be sucking up nitrogen so things are becoming more confusing, not less.

Well, since I got tired of guessing and could not find anything on the Internet regarding the contents of the filter packs, I decided to just call Tetra. Of course, I missed calling them during business hours by about 5 minutes, so I sent them an email instead. I will share what I learn as soon as I hear something back.

I got a reply from Tetra this afternoon, and they state that their carbon filter packs contain neither zeolite nor any other ammonia removing/neutralizing ingredients.

I've got magic fish! :hyper:

Hi jonchall

We really appreciate it when our members take the time to thank those who have helped them. I'll be looking forward to seeing your posts regularly around here.

It also sounds like you're ready for the next step in the hobby and that is joining an aquarium club. The one in your area is the Raleigh Aquarium Society. It's a great way to make new friends and learn even more about fishkeeping.

Thanks for the warm welcome Inchworm! Also, thanks very much for that link--I will be checking into that immediately!

jonchall, I've gone to some of those meetings and plan to go to more of them in the fall. Perhaps we'll get together on it come september. --WD
