I Was About To Start Making My Tea When....

I noticed some of my fish acting suspiciously.

This normally means they have spotted fry and are trying to gobble them.

I was right. I spent the last 90 mins rescuing three newly born Cobalt Blue Zebras

I think I saw one get eaten - 75% rescue rate not bad (of what I saw in there!)

So its 21:30 and i still havent made my tea and have a wet living room floor, towels and pipes and buckets all over......but I have three new babies

I lost a Hongi yesterday which I was gutted about, so this is a nice suprise

Brings my current fry count to 4 as I have a two month old sparenge (well i think it is, it could also be a mbamba but I cant tell yet!!) in another nursery tank.

Think I will clean up and finally get my tea on!

cobalt blue zebra? is that an african cichlid?

Yes its a lake malawi mbuna. - (Metriaclima callainos)

cool. well done for saving the rest. what will you do with them? grow them out and introduce them to your main tank?

Yeah I have plenty of space for them to go in with the rest once they are big enough. I need some more in as there is too much fighting going on at the moment, so they are a welcome arrival

How come the fry got eaten -don't cichlid parents normally protect fry and attack any fish that approches?
