I Want A Centrepiece Fishhh

If you go get a tank and move the Bettas and Corys to it your options would be much more open

I just got a pair of 5" 3-Spot Gourami and a smaller pair of golds. I'll see how they get on, I think its a bi daft adding cichlids to a predominantly anabantoid (sp?) set up so I'm going with this theme for now, I can add kissing and moonlight later. Not keen on opaline/snakeskin for my colour theme lol. It also means my plants won't get torn up and I can still keep cories cos I love em

good luck with the gouramis mel
just watch out for territorial disputes as 3-spots, and golds (as well as opalines) are the same species (Trichogaster trichopterus)

I have been watching them and there's a bit of chase going off between my golds and lavenders [gold cross] so I may have to return a gold male for a female. The 3-spots are being pretty chilled. Why is it ,when they are crammed into a tiny tank in LFS they never ever give chase. Soon as u get em home they give it!

Possibly the cichlid approach to life - none of them has a territory if you overstock them, so they don't get aggressive?

Its a theory. Where do you get most of your stuff Mel?

All over really mate, I use Wildwoods and Amwell as a rule but as I can't drive after the op yet I went to P@H today, ours is pretty good tbh and I'm always willing to try new places. I hadn't been to LFS for over 6wks I was literally salivating when I went in there... over gouramis

Lol. Wildwoods is about the limit to the distance I'm willing to drive (unless theres somewhere really special) and I have to be careful depending on the time of day I go (thanks to the London Orbital Car Park.)

I've been told Maidenhead Aquatics at Bourne End (about the same distance as Wildwoods, just in the opposite direction) is their original one and has some oddball species there, so I may check that out next time I'm on rest days.

I must say that the MA in Crews Hill is very good too

I'll check it out next time I'm there, thanks for the heads up.
