to be honest i would rather completely strip everything down and give it a mega clean and start from scratch. i have plenty of spare mature media so the cycle shouldnt take that long anywayNeale (nmonks) wrote in a post today about gradually acclimitising brakish accustomed bacteria to freshwater, by doing ~20% water changes (brackish to fresh) every day for ~7 days.
it also gives me time to think hard about the stocking as i dont want to rush it....

after putting an ad on AQ ive found a new home for the sharks and archers
they have gone to a new home of the same size
simon i have no idea as of yet, im open to suggestions.... im thinking i may as well make use of the tank and go for a handfull of larger fish but having never kept fish bigger than discus im a bit lost
i always wanted pirahna but after reading your posts about them it put me off a bit and i want interactive fish. i keep coming back to a couple of oscars a large plec of some kind but im stuck with what else i could home with the oscars. maybe a BGK and a freshwater dat of some kind if that would work.... 
do you think a datnoid would work with oscars orwill it eventually get too big for the tank? i like the sound of silver dollars with oscars. ive not long returned some silver dollars after they completely stripped my planted tank out... thought i would give it a gooh yes stay away from piranhas!!
oscars are ace last up until last year I had a lovely couple of 9 inch oscars and they are great, kept them with silver dollars, bichir fire eel, BGK etc and had no issues with their aggression
