I Think Hes Dieing! :( Is It White Spots? (ramjets Not Looking So

Hows it going now?? i wasent even given the oppertunity to fix my fishes problem, i just bought him on friday 8pm, he was fine and even chassed my neons around for 2 days, woke up this morning and i coudnt find him. just got back from work there and he was struggling to breath and an entire section of his fins was gone, i could see the skeletal part of his fin!!!
There was nothing wrong with him last nite, im sure of it cus he was still chassing the neons around, fighting fit. So i read a few articles on different websites and they said to add salt and change some of the tank water but it was too late, i always seem to have problems with betas and others. I only have small neons in the tank so he cant have been attacked, also i cleaned the tank the day before i bought him. I must have been an infection taken from the pet shop.

Im completly ragin bucasue this always happens, its hard to enjoy a this hobby at times, i find that when i pick a favourite it will almost certianly die. Ciclids are the way forward i think althought more expensive and would require more tank space. Hope you have better luck than i did , i think it will be my last BETA btw beauty has a price and i would hate to become realy fond of one, like the last, only to have to flush it..... Googluck :good:

Maybe this happened because Bettas shouldnt really be kept with neons because neons nip. What other fish do you have in your tank?

i only have 2 neons, they are tiny and spent more time being chased by the fighter, dont thnk it was them, this is a complete shock as i was expecting the neons to be killed by the fighter

I will give a more detailed reply once back from the vet. My cat has a suspected UTI or Kidney problems. Dam when it rain it pours :(

Ramjet is looking a bit better today. The white spots are disappearing so im going to keep treating for Ich. The white thing isnt there anymore so is it possible it may of dropped out or something? He does have a white bit on his fin but i dont think that was it as this looked like a worm thing. I am going to do the ich treatment till its totally gone and hopefully after that for another couple of weeks. I will post up a photo of him once returned back from the vet. He is so much more active today. I seriouslly didnt think he would survive but he is proving me wrong. Hopefully once this ich is gone i can treat for parasites. There is only white spots on his fins now and he is swimming around heaps tonight. He also ate his dinner.

Ok so im back from the vets, where i coughed up $510aus for blood tests for my cat!

Im going to do a 20% water change tomorrow and then give another full 5ml dose of Ich treatment. He is a lot more active today. So i have my fingers crossed that tomorrow the white spots are all gone from his body. His fins have really taken a beating though.

Hang on, where's this anchor worm? Colin, did you see the slimy fuzz all over the fish?
yep I saw the excess mucous on the fish. It looks unwell. The anchorworm can be seen in the first picture of Post 28. It shows a white Y shaped thing hanging out of the fish's back near the dorsal fin.

Most kidney problems in cats are caused by excess salt in their diet. It's usually brought about by a diet of dry food and not enough water or fluid to wash the salt out. If you feed your cat primarily on dry food, try changing to canned food that contains pilchards or whitebait. And encourage the cat to drink heaps, if necessary offer it milk or a milk substitute if the cat is lactose intolerant.

The white dots will normally fall off the fish after a few days. This is part of the whitespot's lifecycle and you must be wary now. Keep the medication in the water for the next week because in a few days the whitespot cysts will hatch and release thousands of parasites into the water. If there is no medication in the water when this happens, the parasites will attach themselves to the fish and probably kill it.

Awww, poor cat... let us know the test results. my first cat ate canned food all her life, and she ended up dying of kidney disease, but the canned food was fairly salty and she was old. Nggg... it's stressful though, my cat (the current one) got caught in a trap last year. I hate my landlord... she got stuck in one of his wallaby traps, there's this big loop of wire tightened around her waist, so this old idiot sees her struggling in the wire loop, CUTS HER LOOSE WITH AN AXE AND DOESN'T TELL US. So almost eight hours later, she drags herself back home... three days in vet hospital. Jerk. /offtopic

Glad to hear he's getting better - I hope he'll be okay!

So i dosed another 5ml today for Ich. Ramjet seems to be doing a complete 180 in reguards to ailing health and behaviour. He is running around the tank chasing his reflection in the glass, eating heaps and looks happyer. Hes not out of the woods yet though. I havent even started on the bacterial med yet. The white spots are lesser today that they were yesterday. The plecs even look a bit better aswell. Ive actually just turned Ramjets light off because he is going nuts with his reflection. I couldnt even get him to flare the other day. I got some frozen blood worms the other day. Can he eat these? My cichlids tear the worm cubes apart!

RE My cat. I havent heard back from the vet yet :( They took a lot of blood and urine last night. The blood test we are getting will screen for everything. They pre-diagnosed with acute liver failure or cat aids. But im waiting till we get the results back to know more.
This is her....

Why is your landlord using snare traps for to begin with. I thought they were illegal to use because they are inhumane. Perhaps make an anonymous phone call to the RSPCA and dob them in. Just make sure it's anonymous so the landlord doesn’t find out who made the call and you don't get evicted.

Frozen bloodworms are fine for most fish but should not be the only thing they eat. Use it a couple of times a week and offer other foods in between. You can feed a dry pellet or flake food, frozen brineshrimp, daphnia, raw prawn and fish, and small insects like flies and mosquitoes (as long as they are free of any chemicals or bug spray).

If your cat is suffering from liver failure then chances are it would die within a few days. Feline aids however, is not a real big problem for cats. It weakens their immune system a bit but most cats can live normal happy lives with it. One of our cats had the aids virus and lived for about 6 years with it. He eventually died of old age about 12years old.
Cats normally catch feline aids when they get scratched or bitten by an infected cat. This usually happens at night when they are out and about fighting over territory. Keeping your cat indoors at night significantly reduces the chance of it catching the virus.

I'm so glad to hear Ramjet is doing well! Hopefully Edward will do just as well too.

Sorry to hear about your cat. I'm a huge cat lover, with three furry babies myself. Thinking of you.
Btw - she's beautiful

She is pretty, isnt she :)

I got her from the RSPCA pound. She chewed on my toes. Thats why i picked her. The blood test came back reading all sorts of things. The only thing i could understand is Kindey problems, lower UTDisease and bring her in tonight for an xray..

Ramjets doing good today. Not a sign of a white spot on him. So im going to continue with Ich treatment for another week or so, then do a water change.

He looks so much better. He just ate his dinner and it flareing at the plecs. The plecs are looking heaps better to. I am still using the AquaMasters Whitespot treatment every 3 days.

Him looking sick three days ago...

Im going to do a internal bacteria med after the Ich is gone for safe measure and to get rid of any bugs he is carrying inside.

Woo!!!! HUGE difference, he looks amazing! I could have sworn you were going to lose him a few days ago.... man, it's great to be wrong!
