Remember about a week ago I posted that the fiance thought I had bought a 125 gallon when in fact I had gone to get one of her X-mas presents from out of town. Well, the short story here is that she and I have talked things over and I can get pretty much get whatever I want. :kana:
She knows that fish keeping "keeps" me out of trouble except for posting on and reading this forum all of the time

Anyway here are my questions:

Should I get a 125?

Should I get more than one smaller aquarium e.g. 3- 30 longs, 2- 55 etc. so that I could introduce myself to different types of fish?

Should I get like maybe a 75 and two smaller 20- longs?

Your opinions and potential stocking ideas are important to me. You people have been very helpful and suppportive.

what fish do you want to keep? if it were me, i'd get the biggest tank possible :D and maybe keep cichlids. or make it a community tank with larger fish like silver dollars or angels. a lot of possibilities!

Well, I have the two tanks in my sig. I was thinking about cichlids and that is also why I was thinking about getting more than one smaller tank so that I could maybe keep some new worlds in one and Africans in another. Of course if I moved the community fish in the 55 to a 75 or 125 then I could add moe community fish and would still have the 55 to do something with. This is going to be fun regardless. Thanks for the suggestions.

id get the 75 and maybe a 40 gallon or the 2 20 longs and id put africans in the 75 and a community tank in the 40 based around a south american cichlids or the same in the 2 20 longs.

Hm. I'd say get a few smaller tanks. With cichlids, you no doubt want to breed them. Then again, you can also go for the bigger cichlids or discus or the like that need stable conditions and therefore bigger tanks. :dunno:

Up to you and the stock of your choice.

What's all this about 30-gallon this and 40-gallon that.

You want three tanks? Get three 300 gallon tanks. It should solve most of your "what-should-I-do" problems.

if you already have a 55 and a 30 i'd go for the 125
I agree with this statement. With a tank with 6 ft footprint you will be satisfied for a good while. IMO

You have 4ft tank so take it next level.

Also, make sure your floors can handle the weight. That's at least 1,000 pounds, not including gravel, stand, and equipment, and rounding down to 8 pounds per gallon.

It really depends on what you want to do. Sure, a 6' tank has a great "wow" factor. But you have to take into account your goals. If you want to keep several types of fish that won't work together, get the tanks you need to to meet those goals.

Personally, I'd go for a 2nd 75g and several 20g long tanks. But that's just me.

Also you must consider do you want alot of smaller tanks all over or just big set ups. :D

I mean it pros and cons to everything. :D

I will have 4 tanks set up in my new office, which is actually a downstairs bedroom, with its own bathroom. (great for water changes) :D

Then next summer my 125 gallon will be placed in living room. (Teacher so that will be my project for summer) ;)

So people visiting will only see one large tank, then must enter office to see the rest. My gf main concern was she did not want alot of tanks all over the place. :dunno:

So she said I can have them in office, out of plain view of everyone.

Sounds like you have the support of your significant other, so my suggestion is find out what she would like (they like to be consulted in decisions, helps in long run)

She may like the look of many tanks in plain view, or she may want the 125 as centerpiece, and other tanks tucked away like my GF.

My opinion it does not matter as long as I have tanks.

My office will have computer, tv, and bathroom. If I add little fridge I wont have to leave.

(Teacher so that will be my project for summer)

We have more in common than just Multiple Tank Syndrome. I also teach and having all the vacations we do gives me lot's of time to play golf and think of ways to spend money on fish :kana:

The bathroom that I use is adjoined to our computer room/office and where my tiger barb tank is and a 10 gal. that ultimately will be set up patterned after Tear Scar's ideas of a betta centered, planted community.

My fiance has said that she's okay with another tank in the great room so that is not a concern.

I am leaning towards more smaller tanks than just one big one but I want to keep hearing ideas. I don' think that I really want a 125 just yet. She has also said that when we buy a house she thinks aquariums in the walls would look nice. B)

And, Emporia is at most 40 minutes from my house. Maybe we should get together and the four of us meet for lunch sometime.

I'd go for a 2nd 75g and several 20g long tanks. But that's just me.

i would do that aswell except maybe do a 90 instead of 75. it would be perfect for breeding verious cichlids
