.... the noodles and bio balls are obviously ok to keep using , but i need new filter floss or whatever its called , what can i buy on the highstreet that will be ok , i am looking for something i can buy by the meter and cut to suit if that is possible , would i be looking for foam or fluffy stuff or what

Why such a rush?

Where abouts are you? If you're anywhere Nottinghamshire then i have some you're welcome to. :good:

Thanks for the offer , not near you though unfortunately , the rush is because of work and the fact that the filter material I have isn't filtering because it is falling apart , and the water is not very clear because of it ....

Go into a sewing supplies shop and ask them for untreated polyester fiber fill. You don't want anything treated for fire resistance or mold prevention so you want it untreated. A lifetime supply for a single tank should cost you less than a good cup of coffee.

might be more expensive than ebay , but if you need some quick ....

It should be far cheaper than e-bay if you don't insist on something marked as appropriate for fish. E-bay merchants probably buy the stuff from places like you are investigating and then divide it into small quantities and sell it to you as specialist materials in the auctions. You are bypassing that middle man and get to keep the difference in your pocket.

i got a piece of 270 gram / meter material yesterday for £3.50 , it worked out at nearly 1.5 square meters for the money , it should easily last a year if not longer :good:
