Hey I'm near london and planning on changing filters due to the external one leaking. I don't know what filter is inside had it for ten years lol..... But your more than welcome to some of it

Not sure on numbers of each and probably wont be all of them, but that's another reason I am in no rush.

Dont fill a non floating base tank without soft stuff underneath.

I haven't looked in a long time but I hope this is a "step" in one of our beginner step by step setup guides in the Beginners Resource Center, to be sure and find out about floating bases versus non-floating. Anybody know?

For any beginners reading this, a floating base simply means there is some sort of "frame" (plastic, metal, wood...) running all around the bottom outside edge and lifting the entire bottom glass (or stone) plate into the air slightly. A floating base with a frame like this should -not- be put on foam but should rest on a solid level stand or surface. A non-floating base means the entire bottom plane of glass touches the supporting surface and is therefor vulnerable to any small lump or irregularity. Any raised point can create stress that will crack the bottom glass and thus it is pretty standard practice to use a sheet of fairly dense foam (usually thin) to absorb any little bumps and protect the bottom glass. Hope this helps somebody and hope I'm just repeating advice already in the BRC.

Was not the root cause in this case, there was a piece of foam underneath. Still onwards and upwards!
