After doing a water change, gravel vac, thorough cleaning of tank, my filter would not start up again after plugging it back in.
I checked the plugs (numerous times, because you just don't want to believe it could be the filter), I checked the outlet, I checked the attachments on the filter, it was hot (summer-time), I was tired after all that working on the tank, I was annoyed, then placing the plugged in canopy back on the tank, one side slipped out of my hand and fell into the water...yup...scary moment. (the impeller of the filter just needed to be de-gunked)

Nope, it's an Aquaclear 50. I'm very happy with this filter. Although I'm wondering if I should have gotten the Aquaclear 70? hmmmm, next time!

The reason that electricians keep the second hand in their back pocket is so that they don't put their second hand on the ground creating a pathway for the current through their one hand through their torso and out through the second hand.

I've dropped a fluro light into the tank, no dead fish and not even a jolt to me.... thank goodness for it being compulsary for Australian homes to have emergancy circuit breakers installed. The light still works fine too, it just needed a day of drying out. It was about the third time that light has gone for a swim in that tank, at least twice by the previous owner and once by me.

Erm if it helps, I occasionally (usually when drunk/tired/woken up from deep sleep/all three)look over at my tank and just for a split second have the sensation/panic that they've escaped and are swimming outside the tank.

Haha, no not just you, I often dream that my fish swim around the house and rush around in a panic to close the windows so they don't escape, one time they got out the window and I had to round them up, that was the most stress full sleep ever!
