I Just Had A Heart Attack...

Was watching Tv, suddenly I keep hearing this dripping noise! I turned off my TV, and the sound was coming from my aquarium! I panicked and looked all over it, I kept thinking that there was leak! I was so scared! :crazy:

Then I found the source....I had just put in a new media bag full of carbon in and it didn't fit all the way so i let the top hang out...little did I know that it got soaked and started dripping :rofl:

Phew, I think I just aged 3 years...so terrifying! But then I had to laugh....Anybody else ever get a heart attack about a false alarm?

I once thought I had really bad indigestion but it turned out to be angina! Ok, I turned that one on it's head...it was true though.

Does remind me of the time my wife went to the doctor because of 'women's troubles' and when she came back she told me calmly that she was pregnant! I had had a vasectomy 10 years previously and I hate babies, she said the look on my face was priceless; I can imagine it was. Fortunately, I remain childless in my second marriage some 15 years after the event. Phew.

Erm if it helps, I occasionally (usually when drunk/tired/woken up from deep sleep/all three)look over at my tank and just for a split second have the sensation/panic that they've escaped and are swimming outside the tank.

Yes I realise this is probably just me lol.

Sometimes when I can't find my fish I look over the whole tank, I move deco, and plants. Then when I start to really freak out, the fish just magically appears

Hahahaha those are pretty hair-raising :lol:

One time, I thought my loach had ich and i was panicking and about to cry...until it moved and it turns out it was just sand :blink:

And then when I got a new guppy (Dragonhead Guppy) I thought it had fungus on its back...until i realized it was just white, pearl like scales on itsback

i think that is just you... pretty funny though :L

i left my heater off after a water change for about 3 hours... then went back to it and noticed... no harm done tho

My heart attacks all seem to involve water and electrics

no shocks yet to me or the fish but it's only a matter of time! Dropped a plugged in clip on light in the guppy tank last week...

Nothing, I have quick reflexes and yoinked it out! Poured a bucket of water over an extension lead once. It's only a matter of time before my luck runs out...

Buy a rubber mat (insulator) to stand while working around the tank, and always keep your free hand in your back pocket - less likely to have the current run through your heart. :good:

After doing a water change, gravel vac, thorough cleaning of tank, my filter would not start up again after plugging it back in.
I checked the plugs (numerous times, because you just don't want to believe it could be the filter), I checked the outlet, I checked the attachments on the filter, it was hot (summer-time), I was tired after all that working on the tank, I was annoyed, then placing the plugged in canopy back on the tank, one side slipped out of my hand and fell into the water...yup...scary moment. (the impeller of the filter just needed to be de-gunked) :look:

Is it a Fluval U2?

Nope, it's an Aquaclear 50. I'm very happy with this filter. Although I'm wondering if I should have gotten the Aquaclear 70? hmmmm, next time!

I heard a dripping noise while in bed, jumped out and checked my two 4' tanks for about an hour and all was fine..... In the morning i came into my living room and saw my 60l tank had leaked all apart from 2 inchs and heater had melted the glass and plastic bracket... Big mess.
All fish fine though!!! Ruined my wallpaper however :-(
