I Got Them

It should be less than that but please look at the big picture. If you get strips, a 25 pack of 5 in 1 will cost you about $12 and then you will also have to buy 25 ammonia tests (since the 5 in 1 don't test for hat) for another $12. That will get you 25 tests for each. A master test kit like the API kit will cost about $25 to $30 and will do over 100 tests each. And they are more accurate.

FBT I don't give a damn how old you are you don't even have common sense to do something so simple, like care for your pets or read other people's posts. Seriously what was the point of getting guppies now?

Oi oi oi....a headache. I don't think that anyone needs to point fingers or, in that matter of fact, jump to conclusions.

Just remember, "If one aquarist does it, the world isn't going to stop turning".

FBT, could you inform us about the size of the tank?
How long it has been set up?
What find of filtration you have on the tank?
What the test results are?
What are your future plans?

From there on, if you have questions, ask.

Just remember you can't keep guppies like Bettas. Bettas are...'special' in a way that they can be put through hurdles that other fish can't.

wow.........

guppies and snails dont even add a big bio load. so she should be fine for now without having a test kit(if this is what everyone is all mad about) if her fish are some bettas some snials and i guess she has bettas too.

I am getting a test kit Pimp. I have to get stripes because $30 is all I have left and if I get a master one than I will be broke.

Strips are basically useless, the master liquid kit is going to save you a ton of money in the long run, and be twice as accurate. Just take our word on it. They arn't usually 30 bucks, their in the $20 range though, but it's somthing you should have gotten a long time ago.

I'm going to guess your younger and dont have a ton of cash, but you need to really prioritize the next time you set up a tank. Get the kits and stuff first, make sure the water is all fine, and then add the fish last. I was like 14 or 15 when i first came here, i made my share of mistakes too, comes with being new. Just hang around here awhile and you'll get the hang of it.

Why'd you need money for food and cycleing stuff? You've got parents i'm sure, and you really need to finish the project(s) you've already started. :good:

And i think everyone else needs to lay off, you all weren't born marine biologists.

As I mentioned, if you get strips, you MUST get an ammonia and a nitrite kit. Getting both of those is going to cost you as much as a liquid master test kit. Is there a Petsmart near you? They will match the online price if you print the page and take it in. Just ask them to call the manager to the front if they don't know how to do it. The API master kit is $20.69 and will test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH and do over 100 test for each. You are making a big mistake if you don't get the liquid kit.

Y is everybody freaking out at her about this i mean seriously guys, not everybody is the same or will be the same,, people differ,, poeple have monatary issues, SO WHAT!! like she comes on here for help and whether or not she deserves it it dont give u guys the right to nag and bug her about the way she does things...

FOR the record as stated in a dif topic once before, I have NEVER cycled fishless before, just a fill up and add chemicals,, then wait a day and add fish... NEVER lost a fish from it... so as it may not be recomended it dont mean shes not allowed to do it or tell people thats what she does just so others will do it YOUR way.... let people do what they want and stop turning them off from this forum because it isnt your way.,, its like im here with a bunch of control freaks i mean common now...

AS guppydude said were not all marinebiologists so like let people enjoy this forum, if u have a problem with something they are doing then DONT POST!!!! ignore it.... you wont die by not yelling at people for not being perfect..

Anyways thats my rant...

Murph

I am hoping that rant does not make people more mad at ME  Nicely put though murphy

I haven't yelled at her or freaked out over what she is doing. I have simply tried to explain the differences and advantages of liquid tests over strips and there is an considerable long term monetary advantage there too.

Being only 14, she obviously does have monetary issues but what has gotten most people up in arms is the fact that rather than use the money she has to care for the pets she already has, she has bought more fish meaning that the money is being stretched even more.

Well i guess this is my oppinion but maybe just once is a good way of recomending things and i wasnt referring to just u, ur oppinion is appreciated, but like i said prolly imo only once is fine... but it wasnt directed to just u.

And referring to the "new fish" problem, well thats a mistake she made but cant fix and yelling is a waste of time

Bad, bad I say! How are you going to help someone if they are doing something wrong? What if they think they are doing something correctly and they are doing something harmful and you want to help? What ever happened to constructive critisism?
