I got a new 10 gallon tank! What do I put in it?

A pet store a few years ago; a tank containing 2 male bettas. With no fins and both just drifting aimlessly

I initially reacted to this as angry... BUT, (and hear me out) sometimes petstores get shipped am overload of fish and cant put them in their own tanks... If they had their max of betta somewhere they could have had to put the other 2 in an "over stock" tank

One of them could have gone in a tank with other fish, that's what most local shops here do.

But the thing that got me was that no-one had noticed the state they were in. Or if they did, they hadn't done anything, not even used a fry net to separate them.

Sounds like PetSmart you know the thing with PetSmart is I get sick every time I go and look at fish there it's just a treat I'm horribly they don't know what they're doing it's just probably not even have a good filter there

Don't put an "s" on the end of betta, you don't want it to sound like plural.
Yes, 1 male betta might be fine.

You can most certainly have multiple “wild type” bettas in a 10 gallon.
