Heck yeah, I'd way rather have a suction cup with magnet that's hard to get off instead of one that's gonna fall off, let the powerhead drop on to the sandbed, and spray everything with sand and detritus...
Just bought a Hydor 3 to replace a chattering Seio M820 (and IME chattering is one step before death). Gotta say I LOVE this thing so far. Clean, good magnet, not too big, kicks up lots of water, only uses 10Watts of electricity. And the impeller design is GENIOUS!!!!! Instead of having a manual stop like a Seio or Maximod, if the impeller spins the wrong way on startup (can/does happen with AC motors) the impeller slides forward in its harness until the magnet gets out of the motor, at which point it's attracted back into the motor to try again. Pure genious!
