How Would I Fix This Tank....

I picked it up off the curb this morning. I was in a rush, so I just checked that none of the glass was cracked.....I don't think its cracked, but IDK really. When I got home this evening I took a peak at it and noticed it is missing one side of the bottom trim. I haven't tested its ability to hold water yet, but IF it does hold water. Then how would I fix this? Would just using a Styrofoam pad with the tank work? If it proves to be to much work or if it leaks, I'll probably just put it in the next aquarium auction in case anyone wants it. I spent the last 2 evenings vacuuming and shampooing my cars interior, thank god I didn't do the trunk! It probably needs it now.

Look you can tell they had hard water and didn't do their water changes

Give it a good scrub down and I would remove the bottom trim the plastic at the bottom is just to provide level surface but if you set it up with the bottom rim like that it will put the weight wrong and possibly lead to cracking..... but yeah I would take all the bottom off and stand it on a piece of polystyrene to spread weight.

take off the bottom trim and it should be fine
prob wont leak,you could allways put a bead of silicone along the joint and run your finger along it just to be on the safe side

I wouldn't worry. it's TRIM, after all. but yo could stick something there, if you want.

As said as long as its water tight and does not leak around the cyliconed area's your laughing, best fill it up outside and leave a few days to make sure

Well I think it holds water . Didn't have much trouble getting the bottom trim off, the top trim is also cracked all the way through at all the corners. I left that on since I need it for the lid. Its been siting on some flat cardboard outside for over a day now and the cardboard is still dry. I'm pretty sure its a 20gal high, haven't measured it yet.

Parents yelled at me though when they found out I had it .... I didn't even say I was going to do anything with it, "I'm cleaning a tank I found" was all it took ..... Jez, you think they would know that there is a limit to how many tanks a college student can maintain. I want to move out this fall anyway and already have 4 tanks I would have to move totaling 90gal. I'll just hide it in my empty 40gal critter cage that is also waiting for me to have more time for a future snake.
