Are these 2 males? I’ll be thankful if they are either both males or both females.

Ah, jewels. If they are two males, one will be dead very soon. If a pair the female will get chewed up. If two females, it may work but the colours will fade a bit.

The fish have been in the 4 foot tank for nearly 20 months now. So I doubt I’ll see a dead fish or one that gets chewed up or with faded colours any time soon.

I assume they are difficult to sex.

Then I would say 2 females. Sorry, most people with that question just got them.

I like those fish a lot and wish the aggression were less. I have kept and bred a few pairs, and the violence has worn away my interest. You are very fortunate.
