How To Kill A Fish Painlessly And Quick

This is a bit confusing. He must be dead. When I added the water he looked like he was weightless and he was just tumbling around and around. Oh well, he should pass on anytime now.

Cold probably made him unconcious, but not killed him, the brain can sometimes still function.

omg, you caused him more pain than anything else.

The water should be icy. you should have left the water in the freezer for about 1/2 and hr and then used it.

If you dip a fish in cold water, make sure you leave them in the cold water for a good 30 minutes to be sure or stick them in the freezer. Some fish just go into a kind of hibernation (not true hibernation but a similar slow, near-death sleep) but don't die right off. Barring that, there are other equally effective means to kill a fish but most are kind of gory.

I doubt he will be in pain.

What a nightmare, do you have any ice cubes, throw them in his container.

I doubt he will be suffering, but it has gone wrong, sorry.

Unless the medication is right it can be a nightmare and go horribly wrong (stating the obvious I know) the best thing to do if you are new to medication is ring the vets, if they are closed there should be an emergency number you can ring they will give you quick advice if you have medication in the house. I had to euthanise a shovel nose once and had no medication so I took him to the pdsa (UK charity vets) it cost me about £50 for them to do it but I thought he deserved the dignity after the years we had spent together, they were even sympathetic as I bawled my eyes out.

I would recommend blunt trauma. If you cant lookyour fishy friend in the eye take his/her container outside quickly tip it up and use a heavy rock. This has the advantage of being able to be left like that for a while until you can face moving it again.

I have access to a garden so I always bury my fish, which if there can be a plus side to the event is good for the plants

He's definitely dead, I hope anyway. He's absolutely not moving at all. :(

Bless him, R.I.P. again.

.....HANG ON A SECOND.....

What is the exact problem wit him??

i know I might be too late but one of my angel fish couldn't stay up staright and floated on the surface gasping for a day... i left him, and fed him liquifry through a pipette.. the next day he was fine!

Don't take KILLING action straight away!

paul.

He has had a bacterial infection for atleast a month. About 2 weeks ago I started treating him with Maracyn 1. About a week and a half later I tried Maracyn 1 because it didn't help before. Today he was at the top gasping for air, and sorta going around in awkward positions.
