I have recently (tearfully) sold my four platys (after the advice on here) to my LFS. Glad to say all but one has been sold on. Apparently three of four of them were pregnant again when I sold them - and I was horrified to see that I did not have 18 baby fish in my 10 gallon tank, BUT FORTY.
My question is, that my LFS said they can't take my baby fish until they are 1". I have some in my daughters 5.5gallon, and the rest in my 10gallon with my very patient plec, 3 tetras and 3 glowing fish which I guess are modified Danios? I give them regular water top ups, and take out enough water to keep the nitrate/ammonia levels A-OK but I am concerned these fish will start breeding - so what age / size do they have to be to start breeding.
I really want them OUT of my tank before that happens! I want them out anyway, but I'd prefer to sell them to my LFS. My other fish are fine, no signs of issues and all very easy going. It's breaking my heart to see all these fish inside my little tank, and nobody can take them from me.
