How Often Do You Clean Your External Filter?

Now would you put the eheim media pack in, as these cost any where from £35 to £55 or would you use something else?

Yes absolutely. Eheim media is excellent.

depending oin what size tank its on and what your stock level is it could be days it could be months if you have it on a huge tank thats overstocked probly days! if its a small tank understocked months is more realistic

Filter is capable of filtering a 600 litre tank, mine is a 340/350 litre tank. As for stock there will be 3 clown loache, 1 RTBS, not sure what else havn't decided yet

Don't take the manufacturer's instructions on changing the media regularly TOO seriously. It's a nice little earner for them!.
