I've seen ~3cm Sterbai Cory (still my fave cory, would love to get a group at some point) for £5 each at Aquajardin (my favourite LFS) before my 10% discount, so I'd expect £8 specimens to be ~5cm.

My sterbai cories were about £4.50 each - about 2" long.

£48 for 6 does seem expensive! I moaned about paying £4.50 each LOL

sterbai corys are available for about £6 each with maybe an offer on a group purchase. most corys are normally small fron lfs except bronze seen to be larger for some reason.... bronze corys are normally available at about £2-3 each again with a discount on a group. if there is no offer labelled up then just ask, i have had a few deals this way
cardinals are normally about £2-2.50 each and are normally quite small and can be bought cheaper in groups and are normally on offer. i think i got 6 for the price of 5 at £2 each.

so i would say -

sterbai x6 = £36-40 without a group deal
bronze x6 = £15-18 without a deal
cardinals x 10 = £20-25 without a deal

my cardinals didnt take much time to grow with plenty of fresh water and a varied diet, but i didnt trust the bigger fish with them until they were at least 2x the size i got them at. they are almost fully grown now and look amazing.

never bought the tapajos so i have no idea on them sorry

i brought 2 sterbais and 2 schwartzi's a couple of days ago. all between 2-3 inches. the schwartzi's were 5 each the sterbais 6. my local lfs always ahs bronze's in at about 2-2.50 each for 2" fish.

so i'd say if were talking the same sizes the sterbais were a bit pricey, the bronzes about right. unless youre buying bigger fish obviously. if im buying 5+ of a type of fish, i always haggle for a deal, even if its just a quid or one of the fish free. buying 40 tetra from a LFS, you should be able to haggle some discount especially if you buy other fish at the same time. P@H always have deals on their fish.

bronze corys are as expected
sterbai cory are slightly high, £36-£40 would be about right

I've just been to my LFS, Sterbai's for £5 each so 6x5 would be £30
20 Cardinal's would cost £19

Cant really speak for the rest of the species as I've never had them so dont know how much they cost, but cardinals here are 5 for £5 so £40 for 20 seems very excessive to me!

£1 or less for cardinals is cheap, £2 or there abouts is much more the norm

The guy has got back to me and said all fish are juvis, so pretty small I'm guessing...

£30 for an Orange Head juvi seems extremely steep to me. Are orange heads the same as red heads, just named different?

I was thinking more £20/£30 for the cardinals and around £36 for the Sterbai...

I'll see if he'll do a deal......

I got 10 Sterbai for £7.50 a few months ago from a breeder, They were only about 2cm though
