Are we allowed to add it all up in this thread, so anyone trying to get an idea of a price can use it for a reference, such as someone trying to figure out how much their first tank will likely cost?

Overall... if I go back to 2009 when I joined the forum I'm well over £2,000. Infact since I set my Aquascaper up last June I'm probably over £1,500 alone. Add in a 6 foot tank with FX6 filters previously and yikes!

Just voted, very scarily about £200 on one very small tank...??

I’ve seen a much larger tank second hand for about £20...which is really tempting me...the light fits into a hood, but apparently that doesn’t work...thinking about doing away with the hood and getting those lovely ‘clip on’ type lights... it will need a very good clean....thinking about having a go at a Walstad tank...???

I could have bought a house with the money I wasted on fish.
eg. when I killed my fish in 2006, I buried an estimated $18,000.00 worth of fish. That was just fish and had nothing to do with the money I spent on tanks, lights filters, plants, etc. And I got my stuff at cost price because I worked in a shop.

My real hobby was attracting Butterflies to my home by buying all the host plants and lots of Nectar Plants plus chrysalises, etc. I now have over 8 different butterfly species/Caterpillars on most of my plants.

Beautiful!! Ever thought about raising moths? Deaths head hawk moths are a must-have.

I've had IO (eye oh lol) moths and I traded Giant Swallowtail Butterfly Chrysalises for a bunch of cellophane pupae years back. Hawk moths are cool!!!

Ooh, I love io moths and sphingidae. My favourite sphingid is the elephant hawk moth. Very pretty and has a gorgeous caterpillar.

I couldn't calculate it, but it has been worth every cent and wouldn't have wanted to put that money anywhere else. Fish give back way more than they cost.
