How Many Fish?

you could get a few guppys:) there colourfull and peacefull and about neon sized.
my first ever tropical fish were platys and guppys and i bred some of my own strains too, they were very fun fish. but as your stocking options are limited isupose you could have a 2 males or 2 females, if you want fry maybe one of each sex. i have a 6 gallon tank, but i use that for rearing some cichlid fry :D
hope that helps, also dwarf bumblebee gobys are tiny and intersting :)

Ah yes! Guppy's! I do like the look of them! I'll possibly look into the option

Unfortunately, guppies are very active fish who love exploring; IMO they need a 10 gallon tank at least. And 2 males are very likely to cause aggression problems. One of each gender would mean the poor female would get harrassed for sex all the time- and nowhere to escape in that small tank. And what would you do with all the fry?

I think you should stick to the betta plan. It is not just about fish size; it's about the personalities and needs of different species. Guppies need to swim about and explore; bettas don't to the same extent.
