I think you need to know the height and depth as well as the length to answer that question. Once you have that you can figure the gallons and go from there. In reality it all really comes down to how big the fish will be when fully grown.

Ok from those dimensions you have 31 fish inches to play with(the depth limits some species particularly the South American Cichlids such as the angelfish, and discus). To work out how many fish this corresponds to simply take the adult length of the fish you wish to keep, and divide 31 by this number to work out the number of fish. Alternatively if you want different types, minus from your inches total the individual adult lengths.

Hope this helps. Btw: 124L tank, 32 Us Gallon.

Thanks now i can prepeare

1 more question in my ten gallon i have a under gravel filter and sharp gravel which is wereing down my corys barbles I was going to put down some sandy substrate because that would help but would it clog my filter and how can I use my sandy substrate and not clog my filter?

Jimmy,
The important thing in Xebadir's post to remember is ADULT LENGTH not the length you see them in the fish store. Most of the fish listed on this site have the adult length listed. If you look at the cute little 1/2 inch fish in the store and think you can get 60 of them you will have serious issues real soon. :hyper:

Good luck when you get your bigger tank set up and cycled!

I know about thethat they will grow bigger than the adult size thats y i chose tetra s and drawf fish.
:hey:

I like to choose small shooling fish they have the best colours and r normaly hardy

that is why i don't get silver or bala sharks as they can grow up to 12" : :)

As far as I know you can't have sand with an UGF as it clogs up. Try and find a small, natural, rounded, gravel 1 - 3mm, otherwise you might find your catfish end up with a cotton mouth fungal infection which is almost always fatal.

Yes, I wouldn't bother with an undergravel filter. It won't work with sand (and sand looks so much better and is cheaper if you're using play sand!) An external filter would be your best bet but if you're trying to keep costs down I would (and have) go for an Eheim Aquaball.

Oh @#$@ i have a ugf in my tank and i have sand is that a realy bad thing
and i cant get a new filter aqny time soon cause all my money is being spent on babie axolotls
