how long can fish last in a bag ?? as my local store is 45-50 mins away
any advice welcome!!

Yeah thats no problem, they can survive shipping over a few days, so a couple of hours car drive should be fine.

You could mention to the LFS that you are travelling a long way, that way they can ensure there is enough air in the bag and double bag them for you.

Place I go for my fishies is a two and half hour drive... if traffic permits. Have yet to lose a fish due to the travel

You might also consider purchasing a styrofoam ice chest:

Or, if you have a smaller ice chest you can use it to transport the fish in, this will allow them to stay in the dark (less stress) and have less temperature fluctuation. I've had good luck transporting them that way, just set the bags in and make sure you have some newspaper or something else to use as filler to keep the bags upright if there's open space. :good:

Good idea - I was lucky to get the polystyrene box that fish are transported in by the supplier for free. You see my LFS always bins theirs and I simply asked for one and got mine for diddly squat :good: Perfect also if you happen to move home.
