How Is Bacteria Beneficial To Fish?

Putting it simply, it consumes ammonia that is produced by fish, turns it in to NitrIte then a different type of bacteria consumes the NitrIte and turns it into NitrAte.

Without Bacteria your fish would be swimming in their own p*ss and sh*t!! lol

Im sure someone else can explain it in a more scientific way, I like going straight to the point.
 
Bacteria benefits fish as it removes substances from the tank that would otherwise poison your fish. That's as brief as I could put it :good:

the bacteria in your filter turn the ammonia from your fishes poo and wee into nitrites, then a second group of bacteria turn the nitrites into nitrates which can then be used up by plants. its beneficial to fish because if ammonia and nitrite contractions get to high they kill your fish as ammonia is poisonous.. thats where your filter comes into play (its got a massive surface area so more bacteria can be in a smaller space)
