How Do You Know An Air Pumps Is Good?

hi, just wondering how you figure what the right air pump you need for water capacity and fish specie is, etc.

All depends what you want to run with the air pump?
 
Air stone? Sponge Filter? anything else?

so it doesnt matter how much oxygen im putting into the tank as long theres at least some?

You should have your filter so that it is rippling the surface of the water. As long as you're doing that, an air pump is just an optional (and entirely unnecessary) extra.
