How Do I Get Eggs Off A Rock Into A Net

To be quite honest I am unsure ATM from the pic, I am assuming that is the one guarding the eggs? Is there a pair guarding the eggs or just that one?

Can you fit the rock in the net? If not, you dont have anything you could put some tank water and the rock in to float in the tank? How about a divider out of eggcrate?

That's a damn small rock - no reason not to remove it from the tank.

If your fry car is hard plastic you should be able to just leave the rock in there (carefully) even if one half of the rock comes out of the tank.

Personally, I'd put my fish net over the side of the rock with the eggs until you can find a more final solution.

Edit: it looks like your Cichlid is guarding the eggs, and doing a pretty good job of it, so they won't all be scarfed immediately, though I doubt he can always be that diligent. Still, they're far more likely to survive in there than cory, tetra, or danio eggs would.

Agreed, if the rock will fit, even just half of it, put it in the net.

Almost looks like a young salvini cichlid....Anyone else have any thoughts?

If its cichlid eggs the parents will guard them against allcommers.

At the expense of the other fish in the tank, she probably doesnt want her other fish beaten up.

Put the rock in the net and/or get a divider for the parents and fry.

Bless u, but the net needs to hang on the top of the aquarium where the very top of thenet is out of water so no fish can get into it or out of it.

but then the rock will weight it down cos it is really heavy
Ahh i see, well try and tie it to the side somehow to make it stay and if not then try as what was suggested earlier and see if you cant put the net over the rock in the tank to guard them, but theres no guarantee that the other fish wont find their way in.

for the time being, you can wrap the net breeder over the rock like you did, but stack some gravel around the sides to make sure no fry escape prematurely when the eggs hatch.

only other thing i can think of is to get a tank divider and place the rock on its own side of the divider. make sure that aeration, heating, and water circulation are sufficient and the fry should be ok.
