so the question is in the title realy, how common are blue white fin rainbow sharks? i would like to get hold of one but i have never seen one in stores before (i live in the uk). are they rare or have i just not been looking hard enough?

any help apreciated, cheers

Looks as though its a color variant of a common rainbow shark. Probably not very common.

yes for all intensive purposes this is nothing more than a rainbow shark colour morph, but is it rare? colour morphs in other fish are common place, if it is rare why should this be and would there be a way of getting hold of one other than phoning all the stores within a 50 mile radius lol

I doubt you will see em often.
as someone has pointed out, they are a colour morph. so only happen sporadically.
if you try to breed from them, the gene line will soon collapse.

and no, tomgofishfish, they are natural.

yea i know they are natural that was fish killa who thaught they were man made i was the one that pointed out they are a colour morph :D

I think you have answered my question though raptorrex, i think i will have to go back to plan A and carry on scouring the shops for one lol

Weird! Never seen or heard of the colour variations, certainly never seen them available!

I would assume that the fish has some kindof dilution gene  same as that that dilutes black to blue on other species like cats and hamsters and such like. How curious! :good:

The only reason they would turn blue is because if you look, they have blue iridescence on them. The dilution gene stops he blue from showing, of im correct.

^^ That makes no real sense, blue (in the same way as grey and brown) is still a dilute form of black. The sheen doesnt much have anything to do with it.

All that fish is... effectively.. is a paler 'washed out' version of a rainbow shark. The intense colour of the rainbow shark is 'diluted'.
