OK, so say I try the betta and he does ok with the guppies. What should I do with the zebra danios and the 1 neon tetra? Also, what fish could go with the guppies/betta?
This is for Tokis, who said to try Cardinals instead of neons...
When I bought the fish to begin with, I bought 5 cardinals, which ended up being 4 Cardinals and a neon when I got home and put them in the tank. Only the neon has survived. Are Cardinals really hardier? Maybe I just got a strong neon? I'm just really gunshy about these after they died off so quickly.
I wouldn't risk it if i were you- if your betta doesn't like the guppys you could find him muching on one in the morning, and danio's and tetras can't go with bettas as they harrass them.
If you want community fish, in the majority of cases you won't be able to get a male betta as they don't fit well into comunity tanks.
oh ok, then. I'll keep the Betta alone then.... better safe than sorry!
I would like a tank wiht some color, but the neons/cardinals seem to be the only fish I can put with the guppies, but like I said, I'm really afraid to try them anymore.
I was also going to point out that neons need to in groups of at least 6, 8-10 in a larger tank.
You can put platys with guppys, but any larger livebearers or fish will be too big for a 10gal.
