Hmm Could I Get Arrested For This?

Three words would pretty sum up the last 10 or so posts:

Don't do it!

As it messes up ecosystems and I don't think the us wants another problem like snakeheads :S

Please forgive my reply i thought he was putting them in his own pond therefor thought there would be no legal problems.

when is it illegal to free animals to the wild???

It is almost always illegal to turn loose domesticated animals to ruin the local environment. A dog is a domesticated wolf, don't get caught dumping one on the side of the road, releasing it into the wild, you will not enjoy the fines or worse that result. Only little kids watching cute animal stories really believe that a domesticated animal will be fine in the wild and won't impact that environment. The environmental damage done by "well intentioned" releases of animals is incredible and that has caused many laws on the subject to be issued.

Since always lol. Unless you get permission from the goverment... i think. and you are especially not allowed to introduce them if they are not native. But in my case, the pond does not lead anywhere and is not very large. Snakeheads can walk on land everyone, so that's probably why they have infested lakes, ponds and rivers. They can travel short distances over land so if you wanted them is a pond in your backyard you would need a fence surrounding it so that they wouldn't get into any other bodies of water

Have you ever heard of hurricanes Jade? There are lots of dangers of keeping fish that could escape in any place that they could be accidentally be released. In your own local streams, there are mollies that are native to northern Mexico but not Florida, along with other non-native fish. Some of the damage has already been done by people thinking things are OK the way that you are thinking.
