last week i got my extra large decorator package from aquarium driftwood. i planted my 210 and had extras for my new 29 plus some. it looks great and i will post pics soon.

anyway my daughter just noticed fry in the tank(it is still cycling, nitrite down to 1 this morning.) and i went and looked sure enough we have fry  . don't know what kind they are, i am doing a fishless cycle so haven't put anything in yet. i guess i will call the aquarium driftwood people tomorrow and see what kind of fish were in the tanks the plants came from.

so should i continue to add ammonia? there are not enough fry to cycle a 210 gallon tank, but i really don't have anywhere else to put them. i don't even know what they are. could be something i really don't want, but i am very interested to find out. what should i do?????????

:dunno: Whoa, you are in a sticky situation. I wouldn't know what to do either, but your 1st step sounds good. Call the lfs and find out what was in that tank, who knows they might buy them back or just take them in. GL with whatever you do.

Even if the fish store doesnt know id keep them for a while to see what they were, you can still get rid of them afterwards!

but there is not enough in there to finish my cycle. if i keep them(which i want to) how do i finish? :S

why not get the fry a tiny tank, like a 5 gallon or 10 gallon and just cyclke that tank with a filter from another of your tanks.

can't get a new one right now, we just had a hurricane and none of the lfs have opened back up. i am one of the lucky ones, i had no power for 30 hours. i have to make due with what i have and i just don't have anywhere to put them where they won't get eaten.

can you maybe divide up one of your betta tanks, and put another in there? and then use the other one, thats empty, for the fry?

i have a divider for my 10 gal that i am putting the betta wuv is sending me in, but it has little holes that my swordtail fry swam through, and they were bigger than these. my breeder net has a hole in it, and my breeder box is missing. wish i had seen these before the hurricane hit, i would have just got a new tank.

how bad will it hurt my cycle if i just don't add any ammonia for a couple days till things get opened up again? it is taking care of 5ppm ammonia in about 12 hours, and nitrites were down to 1 from a high of 5 this morning.

Do you have a rubbermaid or tupperware container you could use as a temp tank? Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just as long as it holds water, shoot even a pot would work, haha. Since you live in Florida, I imagine your place stays warm enough this time of year that it won't need a heater.

i have tons of tupperware and stuff, but nothing deep enough to put a filter. would they be ok for a few days without one? all my tanks went 30 hours without filtration, but everybody was looking pretty breathless when we finally got the lights back on.

Yea, they should be fine without a filter, just do regular water changes (being very sure the water temp is the same so you don't shock the little fry). And as the above poster mentioned, an air stone might be a good idea.
