High Nitrites..please Help!

Have you tested your tap water????????

I have :). There is ammonia in the tap water and high PH.

Waterdrop, I started adding ammonia last night. I did not actually do any water change since I didnt find it necessary. I did however use the add and test method to find out how much ammonia it takes to raise the level to 5ppm.

I will start another thread once I have a nitrate test kit.

Thanks.

So where are you, in terms of water chemistry and what would you like to know? I am almost always ready to help too but I find that WD has often gotten there ahead of me in these cycling threads. His advice is usually spot on and you don't need to hear the same thing twice from us. It would be like me and MissWiggle answering the same post. She always seems to have the right answer, or at least the one I would have given if I arrived first.

hahaha. Thanks OldMan47. WD eventually replied on my other thread.

I am stuck with high nitrites for more than a week now and waiting. Nitrites in my tank seem to take forever to drop. The pH drops every once in a while which I fix by doing a large water change.

Hi Mayur,

Just had another looksee at your data to remind myself of where you are and realized we would only expect you to be about 1/4 to 1/6th the way through the fishless cycle. You are on day 10/11 and many fishless cycles take 40, 60, 70 days, lengths like that. From the concern in your messages I kept thinking something unusual must be wrong but now I realize its the patience thing and perhaps you just somehow didn't realize how long these things usually take! Don't mean to get you down by saying that, just thought it might help to hear the info clearly -_-

~~waterdrop~~ :)
