So I have a few young cichlids I'm growing out in a 55 gal. I'm getting a 100gal 5 ft or a 125 gal 6 ft. It depends on what I can find a good deal on.

So I wanted a gold seveum to go with my EBJD. But I found a Heros notatus F1 for $6. I would have to pay for shipping but it's not that far away about a 12 hr drive. I would love one of these guys I have been looking at them for a bit just as a dream I never though I would find one. But I found some for a good price they are 1" so I could grow it out in my 20 gal for little bit then move some fish around. Then spring Will be here and I will have my tank to set up.

So what do you guys think? Should I do it. It's hard to find these guys.

I say go for it :)

I think a Red Spotted Sev or Super Red would contrast better with the EBJD tho.

yes I wanted a red spot first. But not the super red they just freak me out. I have seen some golds that are just awesome with bright gold body and orange fin and just a few spots. They look great.

Do you not have a sev? I thought you had a green? But yeah in the 5 or 6 foot tank I think 2 sevs would be nice :) The Notatus are a nice breed but make sure your careful no breeding goes on ;) cos they would be technically hybrids.

Yes I have a 3" green severum named Nip. I'm just thinking for the new tank in the spring. There is no other cichlid I could think of that I would rather have then one more severum. Well the Geos are cool but dig too much. My Bahai red digs enough for me. I'm thinking a gold would be better they are cheaper I could find one localy. Can't wait for the big tank I'm excited. I think I could start growing the new severum out now so by spring it can hold it's own with my others in the big tank.
